16 Hands :: Artist Review
| Artist Review |
We welcome artists and craftspeople who are interested in exhibiting at 16 Hands to submit images and information.
Please, before doing so, get to know the type of store 16 Hands is, and generally the kind of work we carry. Although we show some fine art (paintings, drawings & photography), we are not primarily a fine art gallery. We specialize in functional handmade items for the home, as well as jewelry, wearables and gifts.
We currently show work by more than 400 artists and craftspeople from all over the U.S., and have particular interest in local and regionally based studios. The common thread in whatever you find at 16 Hands is that the objects are impeccably designed, well crafted, original expressions. We believe that just because an object is functional, doesn't mean it has to be boring, and that objects of beauty and fun enhance our daily lives...or at least they should!
The work we carry is a combination of items purchased wholesale and items taken on consignment from the artist or studio. Please include information about which of these (or possibly both) that you would consider. An example of this combination might be to request a larger, more expensive piece on consignment that would benefit a display where smaller items, purchased wholesale, are shown.
Submissions should be made by email. Images or a web link to existing images online are both acceptable. Please limit the total size of images sent to under 2MB. Very large images should be re-sized before sending. Buying decisions are usually not made from this first contact, but should give us a good idea of the type of work you do. Wholesale cost and/or consignment information should be included.
Also, please include information about the materials you use, techniques you employ and what inspires you to create. Anyone who has purchased (or received) a gift from 16 Hands knows that we like to include information on the artists we show. The connection between the items we show and the people who make them is important to us.
Submissions should be sent to the email at the bottom of this page.
Thank you. |
